{"id":3539,"date":"2019-02-17T12:36:12","date_gmt":"2019-02-17T12:36:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/site.suisselle.ch\/articles\/injecting-in-temporal-area-dr-siquier\/"},"modified":"2023-11-21T09:11:19","modified_gmt":"2023-11-21T09:11:19","slug":"injecting-in-temporal-area-dr-siquier","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/suisselle.com\/de\/articles\/injecting-in-temporal-area-dr-siquier\/","title":{"rendered":"Issue 1: Temporal Area injection"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Injecting in the temporal area, is considered as a hight-risk procedure<\/p>\n<h2>Exploring the Temples<\/h2>\n<p>The hollow temple is an area often overlooked.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sunken temples are an inevitable part of aging for many of us.\u00a0<\/strong>The loss of volume in the upper third of the face is, however, still not given enough attention.<\/p>\n<p>Temporal atrophy results in \u201cskeletonization\u201d of the face, which makes it look older.\u00a0<strong>Treating this area with hyaluronic acid fillers, such as Apriline\u00ae, has an extremely positive and rejuvenating effect. \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2>Risks of Treating the Temples<\/h2>\n<p>Injecting in the temporal area\u00a0is considered a\u00a0<strong>high-risk procedure<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>the temples are referred to as \u201cdangerous territory\u201d<\/strong>. In reality, this is an area that deserves consideration from the injector but, technically, it is no more challenging than any other area of the face.\u00a0<strong>The risks associated with temporal fillers are similar to the risks that exist in other areas.<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0Potential\u00a0side effects include\u00a0bleeding, bruising, infections and unevenness of the skin surface.\u00a0<strong>The results could be unsatisfactory and there might be a need for more filler to be injected.<\/strong>\u00a0The risk of vascular compromise exists as well.\u00a0<strong>Practitioners should be properly trained and experienced.<\/strong>\u00a0They\u00a0need to be aware of the serious potential complications that can result from occlusion of specific facial arterial and venous structures.\u00a0There is a potential for significant anatomical variations in the pathway of temporal vessels, therefore caution is always advised.<\/p>\n<h2>Male and Female Patients<\/h2>\n<p>Fuller temples will make the outer eyebrows more visible. They will give the eyes a much more open, attractive and youthful appearance. However, t<strong>he approach to male aesthetics is different from that of a female.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In this case, the depression created by temporal wasting in the female face does not usually require a full correction.\u00a0<strong>When treating temples on a female face, it is important to improve the concavity and avoid giving the face a convex appearance as this is considered to be a masculine feature.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2>My Own Experience<\/h2>\n<p>My preference is to inject no more than 0.5 ml, bilaterally, during the first appointment.\u00a0<strong>This kind of a sessional approach guarantees a safer practice.<\/strong>\u00a0I prefer to use a 25G cannula with a retrograde fanning technique.
