# Issue 2: Powerful CHAC Technology
Zoom on specific powerful anti-ageing complexes integrated in the patented CHAC technology* (apriline® Mesotherapy):
CHAC Technology enhances and exploits the natural properties of Hyaluronic Acid (HA). This technology has two features. First, It makes HA an optimal vehicle for transporting essential nutrients to the skin, and secondly it ensures their effective delivery, all while minimizing their degradation. Both of this allows to obtain enhanced and long-lasting results. Having this in mind, let’s learn more about some key elements in the formulation:
The ingredient that is rather unknown to many of us and hidden in most anti-aging formulas is called: ‘Matrixyl’ (Palmitoyl pentapeptide-4). It can be said that this ingredient is a ‘time bomb’ because it slows down the passage of time. But what exactly is behind this mysterious element of youth? Therefore first of all the explanation of ‘matrikines’.
The term of “matrikines” was coined for designating peptides liberated by partial proteolysis of extracellular matrix macromolecules, which are able to regulate cell activities. Among these peptides, some of them may modulate proliferation, migration, protease production, or apoptosis. They are found in the skin tissue surrounding the fibroblasts, which are the cells that make collagen and elastin. We could compare the matrikines with the waste products: in fact, when the collagen and the elastin are broken, they become matrikines. Collagen fibers suffer damage and break continuously due to, among other causes, exposure to sunlight.
Most interesting is that these peptides, which are nothing more than traces of broken collagen, are telling to the fibroblasts, through chemical messages, to make collagen again. And so the collagen is replenished to the optimum level.
When the fibroblasts, which form the tissue of the outermost layer of the dermis, are in contact with Matrixyl, the collagen proteins begin to proliferate, which, moreover, are arranged in fibers and form a structure. The firmer and more compact it is, the more youthful appearance it gives to the skin.
Another key element in the CHAC technology is the Acetyl hexapeptide-8. It is a synthetically derived peptide, an advance in aesthetic technology as an alternative to Botulinum Toxin, acting on the same mechanism of wrinkle formation but in a completely different way.
Acetyl Hexapeptide-8 is analogous to the N-terminal end of SNAP-25 and competes with this natural protein for a position in the SNARE complex, destabilizing its formation without breaking any of its components.
If the SNARE complex is slightly destabilized, vesicles cannot release neurotransmitters and muscle contraction is attenuated. In this way the formation of lines and wrinkles is prevented. Although its effect is not as potent as botulinum toxin and its mechanism of action is different, because the toxin destroys irreversibly fragment SNAP-25 protein SNAR
Active ingredients of the CHAC Technology are maximizing hyaluronic acid’s ability for skin renewal and collagen production.
The bioactive agents encourage the renewal of the skin and ensure an effective, long-lasting result. They renew the extracellular matrix, actively stimulating communication and migration of different immune-competent cells.
CHAC Technology is used as a mesotherapy treatment against wrinkles and can be combined with fillers, peelings and Botox treatments.
